PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College Friars women's tennis team fell by a score of 6-1 to the No. 61 DePaul Blue Demons on Friday afternoon, April 15. The match was the first match played at Providence College's new tennis complex adjacent to Anderson Stadium. The Blue Demons flexed their muscle throughout, sweeping the doubles point and capturing the first five singles matches off the court.

The Friars salvaged a point when senior Hannah Zangari earned her first singles victory of the spring with a come-from-behind, 1-6, 7-5, 10-8 victory over Milica Tesic out of sixth singles. Zangari, who has been a linchpin out of the second and third doubles position all season for the Friars, showed off both her ability to control points and her strong hands at net throughout the match, winning numerous points by setting up volley winners with strong approach shots.

"I was so happy with how Hannah played today," Friars' head coach Rebecca Ricci said after the match. "For her to step into the lineup and win against one of the nation's top teams speaks to how smart a match she played. I thought she did an excellent job of driving topspin groundstrokes to her opponent's weaker stroke, and she finished points extremely well throughout the second set and the super-breaker. I'm really looking forward to her building off of this win and putting forth another strong effort in Sunday's senior day match."

The Friars will wrap up their regular season on Sunday, April 17 at 1 p.m against the Seton Hall Pirates. The match will again be held at the new tennis facility adjacent to Anderson stadium, and senior day festivities will be held to honor Alana Prinos, Zangari, Olivia Hogan, and Ali Sullivan. The match will also serve as the women's tennis team's Pink-Out Friartown match, with special Pink-Out shirts being sold to benefit the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation.
