CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Providence College women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to the No. 57 Harvard Crimson on Sunday afternoon, March 13 at the Murr Tennis Center at Harvard University. Despite competitive matches out of first, third, and sixth singles, the Friars were unable to corral a point against the talented Crimson.

Sophomore Brooke Burnside, playing in her second match of the spring season out of sixth singles, controlled numerous baseline rallies during her match against Harvard's Amy He, but He's outstanding defense won out in a 6-2, 6-1 triumph for the Crimson senior. Similarly, Friar sophomore Nicole Cyterksi took two out of the first six games against Erica Oosterhout in the third singles match, but it was Oosterhout who captured eight of the last nine games en route to a 6-2, 6-1 victory.

Senior Alana Prinos put on the most impressive performance for the Friars on the day, splitting the first ten games with Harvard's June Lee before Lee battled back to close out the first set 7-5. Prinos' strong backhand allowed her to battle with Lee from the baseline, and the senior's court coverage and defensive tennis allowed her to extend rallies throughout the set. However, Lee built off of the momentum that she gained from capturing the last two games of the first set, clinching the second set by a 6-1 margin.

The Friars dropped to 6-4 on the 2015-2016 season with the loss to the Crimson. The team will return to action this Friday, March 18 against the Sacred Heart Pioneers.
