PROVIDENCE, R.I. - It was announced today [Dec. 7] by the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) that Providence College senior midfielder Adrienne Houle (Burlington, Ontario) has earned Longstreth/NFHCA Division I Second-Team All-America honors.

Houle is the 11th player in program history to earn All-America recognition, and the first since Caitlin Malone in 2014 (Third Team). Additionally, she is the first Second-Team All-America selection for the program since Nellie Poulin in 2009. Five of the 11 All-Americans during the program's history have been mentored by current Head Coach Diane Madl. Overall, the Friars' 11 honorees have earned All-America recognition a total of 17 times.

Houle recently earned Longstreth/NFHCA All-Northeast Region First Team honors for the first time in her career, having previously been named to the Second Team (2015). She also earned All-BIG First-Team honors for the second-straight season (2015, 2016). Prior to the start of the 2016 campaign, Houle was a unanimous selection to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. During the 2016 campaign, Houle led the Friars in scoring with a career-high 21 points on nine goals and three assists, and four of her nine goals were game winners. During her career, Houle totaled 54 points on 23 goals and eight assists. She finished her career at Providence tied for 25th all-time in career scoring and tied for 19th in career goals. Houle was named to the 2016 Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division I Senior All-Star Game. She also was recognized by the league as a member of the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll four times (9/5, 9/12, 9/19, 9/26).

Earlier this week [Dec. 5], Houle was selected as a member of the Synapse Sports All-America Third Team.

Providence finished the year with a 13-6 overall record and finished in a tie for second place in the BIG EAST Conference regular-season standings with a 5-2 mark in league play. The Friars advanced to the semifinals of the BIG EAST Tournament, where the team fell to Liberty, 1-0, on Nov. 4 in Philadelphia, Pa.
