PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College sophomore guard Maddie Jolin (Rehoboth, Mass.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, Nov. 28. It marks the first weekly league honor of her career with the Friars. She is the second player this season to earn weekly honor roll recognition, joining senior Sarah Beal (Matthews, N.C.), who has been featured on the list, twice (Nov. 14, Nov. 21).

Jolin averaged 14.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game as the Friars posted a 3-0 record last week. She shot 50-percent from the floor (14-28), including 7-14 shooting from three-point range (50-percent). Jolin also converted 9-12 free throws (75-percent). She reached double figures in the scoring column in all three games. She narrowly missed her first career double-double against Hartford on Nov. 22 with 16 points and a career-high nine rebounds. She posted 17 points against UNCW on Nov. 26 as she hit 6-8 shots from the field, including a 6-8 effort from beyond the arc.

Jolin has played a critical role in the Friars' impressive start to the season 2016-17 season. The team has posted a 6-0 record this year, which marks the best start for the program since 2006-07. Through six games, Jolin is averaging 14.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. She is shooting 50-percent from the field (27-54), including 46.9-percent from beyond the three-point arc (15-32). Jolin also is a reliable free-throw shooter, having gotten to the line more than any other Friar this season (15-20, .750).

Providence returns to action at the inaugural Ocean State Tip-Off Tournament on Dec. 3-4. The Friars will face Bryant in the tournament opener on Saturday, Dec. 3. On Dec. 4, Providence will take on Brown or Rhode Island in the consolation (1:00 p.m.) or championship game (3:00 p.m.). This year's tournament will be hosted by Brown University and all games will be played at the Pizzitola Sports Center in Providence, R.I.
