The Friars all-time series improve to 3-3-0 against the Bulldogs. The last meeting between the Bulldogs and Friars in the 2015 BIG EAST Championship on Nov. 8, 2015. The Bulldogs defeated the Friars, 1-0, and claimed the BIG EAST title.

The second half remained scoreless as the Bulldogs led in shots eight to six. Shea recorded six saves and Luedtke recorded four.
Coach Lopes stated after the match, "Tough game versus a very talented Butler team who is difficult to play against at their place. We knew coming in, they were good defensively with six straight shutouts. We wanted to be aggressive to score while controlling their attacking tendencies. We created a handful of great chances where we could have scored a couple more, but excellent individual effort by Ugolik on the goal. It was an important win and to earn it on the road while earning a shutout demonstrates the commitment by the team to put in a complete performance."
The Friars return to action on Thursday, Oct. 6 against Villanova University at 4:00 p.m. at Villanova.
