Women's Soccer To Host Creighton

The women's soccer team will host the Creighton University Bluejays on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 1:00 p.m. in Providence, R.I. at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. The match will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) via Fox Sports Go.

Scouting the Bluejays
The Bluejays are 8-3-2 overall and 3-2-0 in the BIG EAST Conference heading into Saturday's match. The Bluejays secured their third win in BIG EAST play on the 2016 win on Oct. 9 against St. John's. This feat marked the first time the team has recorded more than two wins in BIG EAST play since entering the league in 2013.

Senior Lauren Sullivan leads the Bluejays with 11 goals and five assists on the season for a total of 27 points. On Oct. 10 Sullivan received BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after back to back victories over Seton Hall (4-0) on Oct. 6 and St. Johns (2-0) on Oct. 9.

Freshman goalkeeper McKenzie Meola earned BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week on Oct. 10 after shutouts against Seton Hall and St. John's. The goalkeeper has recorded 27 saves over the course of 802:32 minutes of play. Meola posts a 1.23 goals against average and a .711 save percentage.

Scouting the Friars
The Friars are 9-4-2 overall and 3-1-1 in BIG EAST play after a 2-0 loss against the Marquette Golden Eagles on Oct. 9. With the loss, the Friars have only allowed three goals against in their BIG EAST games. Providence has outscored opponents 24-14 during its 2016 campaign.

Senior Rachel Ugolik (Hamden, Conn.) leads the Friar offense with 15 points on the season on six goals and three assists. Graduate student Kathryn Hiller (Dartmouth, Mass.) has recorded six goals and one assist on the season for 13 points.

Senior goalkeeper Kristyn Shea (Piscataway, N.J.) enters Saturday's match with eight shutouts. Shea has recorded 75 saves and posts a 0.89 goals against average and .843 save percentage.

Season Awards
Oct. 3: Senior goalkeeper Kristyn Shea(Piscataway, N.J.) earned her third BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week award of the 2016 season as announced by the league. Shea finished the weekend 2-0, after a win over Xavier University, 2-1, and a 1-0 win over 2015 BIG EAST Champions Butler University.Sept. 26: Senior goalkeeper Kristyn Shea (Piscataway, N.J.) was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week after a shutout against then-No.6/3 Georgetown University.
Sept. 19: Senior Rachel Ugolik (Hamden, Conn.) was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after a 2-0 weekend with Friar victories over Central Connecticut on Sept. 15 (3-1) and Massachusetts on Sept. 18 (3-0). The forward was tied for most points on the weekend in the BIG EAST on two goals and two assists.
Sept. 5: Senior goalkeeper Kristyn Shea (Piscataway, N.J.) was named BIG EAST goalkeeper of the week after a shutout weekend against both Boston University and Colgate University.
Sept. 5: Junior Juliana Pellegrini (Rockville Centre, N.Y) received BIG EAST honor roll recognition after scoring three of the Friars' seven goals on the weekend.
Aug. 29: Graduate student Kathryn Hiller (Dartmouth, Mass.) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll after scoring both of the Friars' goals against Northeastern and Maine, respectively.
Aug. 22: Sophomore Katie Day (East Hampstead, N.H.) earned BIG EAST Honor Roll after notching her first career goal on a penalty kick in the 82nd minute against then, No. 10 Rutgers.
