INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Providence College women's volleyball team was defeated by Butler in their second BIG EAST match. The Friars lost the first set 16-25, and the second, 11-25. Providence battled back in the third set, but fell short (25-27).
The Friars were led by Marina Rose (Coventry, Conn.), who tallied nine kills and 11 digs. Freshman Emily Horner (Mission Viejo, Calif.) recorded seven kills on the day.
Defensively, Michelle Cruz (Midland Park, N.J.) led Providence with 18 digs and Kayla Fitzgerald (Redlands, Calif.) collected 12.
Setter Jordan Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) recorded 18 assists.
The Friars are back in action at 7:00 p.m. on October 3, hosting Georgetown for their first BIG EAST home match of the season.
