The Providence College women's volleyball team will travel to face BIG EAST opponents Marquette and DePaul. The Friars will play at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16 at Marquette and again at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17 at DePaul. SCOUTING PROVIDENCE COLLEGE: The Friars begin the weekend after falling in four sets to Villanova. The Friars rallied to win the third set and nearly taking the fourth, but were unable to pull through. The Friars enter the weekend with a 10-11 (1-6 BIG EAST) record. Providence is led by junior Kayla Fitzgerald (Redlands, Calif.) Michelle Cruz (Midland Park, N.J.) leads the Friars on the back court, notching 285 digs on the season. Jordan Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) has picked up 595 assists on the season.
SCOUTING MARQUETTE: Marquette enters the match with a 12-16 (4-2 BIG EAST) record. The Golden Eagles most recently fell to Creighton in straight sets on Oct. 11. The Golden Eagles are led by Taylor Louis, who has collected 346 kills and 143 digs on the season. Defensively, Lauren Houg has recorded the team best of 361 digs. Setter Sara Blasier has registered 660 assists on the season. Meghan Niemann received BIG EAST weekly honors, after averaging 2.50 points per set, 2.00 kills per set, and 1.00 blocks per set.
SCOUTING DePAUL: DePaul begins the match with a 21-7 (2-6 BIG EAST) record. The Blue Demons are led by Brittany Maxwell, who has collected 209 kills. Tyler Graham heads the Blue Demons defensively with 255 digs and Colleen Smith has tallied 638 assists on the season. The weekend's match marks the end of the Blue Demon's four game travel streak, all of which DePaul has been defeated. Most recently DePaul lost Georgetown, 3-2, on Oct. 11.
