The 18th-ranked Providence College women's cross country team will race at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass., on Friday, Sept. 24 at the `Coast-to-Coast Battle In Beantown' hosted by Boston College. The team will face other nationally ranked teams including Michigan (No. 1), Georgetown (No. 5), Syracuse (No. 14), Boston College (No. 17) and Dartmouth (No. 25).
Sophomore Catarina Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) will be making her season debut for the Friars. Last year, Rocha finished fourth on the team and seventh overall at the Battle In Beantown.
Joining Rocha will be senior Julie Solimine (Haverhill, Mass.) and juniors Lauren Mullins (Binghamton, N.Y.), Katie Sischo (Jamesville, N.Y.) and Molly Keating (Rehoboth, Mass.).
The freshmen in the women's 5km race will include Brianna Ilarda (Perth, Australia), Katie Lembo (Penfield, N.Y.) and Mackenzie Barry (Mendham, N.J.).
Seven other Friars will be racing on Friday. Seniors Devyn Pryor (Dartmouth, Mass.) and Caile Kohlbrenner (Sparkill, N.Y.), junior Kathleen Powell (Wrentham, Mass.), sophomores Jillian Fanning (Manlius, N.Y.) and Sarah Hammond (Essex, Conn.) and freshmen Delina Auciello (Mastic, N.Y.) and Caitlin Lawlor (Concord, Mass.) will all run in the open 5km race.
The women's 5km race is set to go off at 3:00 p.m. and the open 5km race is sch eduled for a 4:15 p.m. start.
