Providence took a 1-0 lead in the 47th minute of play when Ugolik found the back of the net, marking her second goal on the season. Junior Catherine Zimmerman (Madison, N.J.) was awarded an assist on the play. The remainder of the game was scoreless and the Friars posted the win.
The Friars led in shots for the game (16-7) and had five shots on goal. Marist goalkeeper, Ashley Houghton, recorded four saves for the Red Foxes. In net for Providence, sophomore Kristyn Shea (Piscataway, N.J) recorded two saves for the shutout.
"Great performance on the road against a team that was very motivated to win on their home field," said Head Coach Sam Lopes. "We responded, defended well and established good tempo on attack."
The Friars will return to action at 7:00 on Friday, Sept. 19 at the Ray Treacy Track to play Fordham.
