"I was extremely pleased with the effort of the entire team tonight against a very good Michigan team," Providence College Head Coach Diane Madl said. "Their work rate from start to finish was the best all season. We will be able to build off of this performance moving forward. Our defense, as a whole, played really solid all game. We have some things to work on, but I'm very encouraged by the progress today."
Senior Deidra Clymer (South Windsor, Conn.) recorded five saves for Providence in goal. Michigan's Sam Swenson stopped three shots in the victory.
The Friars return to action on Sunday, Sept. 14 against Central Michigan. The game will be played at Ocker Field in Ann Arbor, Mich. at 3:00 p.m.
