QUEENS, N.Y. - The Providence College women's basketball team fell to BIG EAST Conference foe St. John's, 85-65, on February 8 at Carnesecca Arena in Queens, N.Y. Junior Karin Robinson (Jamaica, N.Y.) scored a game-high 21 points in the Friar effort, while freshman Aliyah Miller (Southaven, Miss.) contributed a career-best 19 points.

The Friars led 15-11 with 13:45 left in the first half. St. John's went on a 13-0 run over the next 4:21 to take a 24-15 lead at the 9:24 mark. The Red Storm led by as many as 16 points in the half (37-21). Miller tallied the Friars' first eight points of the game and finished the half 4-of-7 from the field. Junior Robinson scored 12 of the Friars' 15 points to close the final nine minutes of play.

In the second half, the Friars were within 11 (54-43) with 13:20 remaining, but the Red Storm put the game away with an 11-0 run to take a 65-43 lead with 9:48 on the clock.

St. John's hauled in 23 offensive rebounds in the game and out-scored the Friars 22-5 in second-chance opportunities.

Sarah Beal (Matthews, N.C.) joined Robinson and Miller in double figures with 12 points and dished a team-high four assists. Junior Alexis Harris (Detroit, Mich.) led Providence in rebounding with eight boards.

Five Red Storm players cracked double figures in the scoring column, led by Jade Walker's 14 points. Danaejah Grant recorded a double-double with 11 points and game-high 10 rebounds. Eugeneia McPherson dished a game-high 11 assists for St. John's.

The Friars return to action on Tuesday, February 11 against BIG EAST foe Marquette. The game will be played at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I and is scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
