NEW YORK, N.Y. - Junior John Fatigati (Mahwah, N.J.) and junior Leia Federiconi (Williamsville, N.Y.) earned All-BIG EAST honors after their performances at the BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships, held from Wednesday, Feb. 19 through Saturday, Feb. 22.

On Thursday, Feb. 21, Fatigati took third place in the 200y IM with a time of 1:51.33 to earn the honors. With this time, Fatigati broke his own record set last year by .84 seconds. The following day, Feb. 22, Federiconi came in third place in the 100y breaststroke when she finished the race in 1:05.21. This time smashed the school record set in 1996 by 1.4 seconds.

This is the first time in 15 years that a male swimmer from Providence College was named to the All-BIG EAST Team. Jed Michnowicz earned All-BIG EAST Honors in 1999 with his second place finish in the 500 freestyle. It also marks the first time in 21 years that a female swimmer has earned All-BIG EAST honors, dating back to 1993 when Michele Tamburo earned the honor after her swim in the 200y backstroke. It has been 22 years since two swimmers have earned All-BIG EAST Honors in the same season.
