Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. -

The Providence College men's soccer team upsets No. 3 Georgetown, 2-0, on the road on Wednesday, Oct. 15 for its second BIG EAST win of the season.

The Friars jumped out to an early lead. Sophomore Mac Steeves (Needham, Mass.) scored after a series of shots, the final being a rebound off of his shot to the post. The goal marked Steeves' sixth of the season and second in as many games.

The second Friar goal came at 37:29 from red-shirt senior Markus Naglestad (Kristiansand, Norway). Sophomore Dominik Machado (Attleboro, Mass.) fed the ball to Naglestad who shot it into the bottom left of the net. Like Steeves, the goal marked Naglestad's sixth goal on the season. At the half, the Friars held the Hoyas scoreless with a 2-0 lead.

In 90 minutes of play, red-shirt senior goalkeeper Keasel Broome (Claymont, Del.) collected seven saves to keep the Hoyas without a goal. Broome recorded his fourth shutout on the season and 11th career shutout.

The win over Georgetown marked the first time since Oct. 16, 2007 that the Friars have beaten a top-10 ranked team on the road (No. 9 Boston College, 1-0).

Providence moves to 7-2-1 (2-0-1 BIG EAST) on the season, while Georgetown drops to 7-2-4 (2-1-1 BIG EAST).

The Friars are back in action for a BIG EAST home match at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18 when they host St. John's.
