Fairfield, Conn. - Competing in the A flight was senior Maria Clara Bernardez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Rep.) and sophomore Alana Prinos (Foxborough, Mass.). The pair collected a 2-3 record with wins over Connecticut (8-7 [5]) and Fairfield (8-3). They suffered losses to Bryant (8-1), Quinnipiac (8-3), and Sacred Heart (8-5).
Sophomore Hannah Zangari (Saunderstown, R.I.) and freshman Jenn DeLuca (Riverside, Conn.) earned a 3-2 record in their first matches as a pair. Zangari and DeLuca earned wins against Fairfield (8-6), Bryant (8-1), and Sacred Heart (8-6). The two fell to Quinnipiac (8-5) and Connecticut (8-2).
In flights C and D were juniors Karen Ramirez (San Juan, P.R.) and Taylor Corder (Corinth, Miss.) along with sophomore Olivia Hogan (Gaithersburg, Md.) and freshman Amanda Pitocco (Warwick, R.I.). The four competed interchangeably to capture the flight D title with a 4-1 record, while earning a 1-3 record in flight C.
The Friars are back in action on Friday, Sept. 13 through Sunday, Sept. 15, when they look to compete in the Quinnipiac Invitational set to be held in Hamden, Conn.
