DELAND, Fla. - Providence College volleyball picked up its fourth win of the season by beating Bethune Cookman, 3-0, on Saturday. The Friars move to 4-3 on the season and the Wildcats fall to 1-5.

Junior Colleen McCollom (Indian Park, Ill.) and freshman Kayla Fitzgerald (Redlands, Calif.) led Providence to a 25-18 first set victory with three and two kills, respectively. Fitzgerald and junior Mackenzie Ziegler (Portage, Wis.) recorded three digs each.

The Friar took the second set 25-17. Fitzgerald again led the Friars in kills, tallying six. McCollom contributed six digs in the set.

Providence closed out the match in the third set, 25-12. Ziegler registered a team-best seven kills in the set. Freshman Michelle Cruz (Midland Park, N.J) tallied six digs.

Overall the Friars were led by Fitzgerald with 12 kills. Sophomore Jordan Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) tallied 34 assists and Cruz had a game-best 11 digs. Junior Annie Russian (Round Rock, Texas) had three of PC's eight service aces. Providence had the advantage in kills with 39 compared to Bethune Cookman's 27.

Bethune Cookman was led by Rhea Simon with eight kills and eight digs. Alexa Thomas contributed 24 assists.

Ziegler and Cruz were named to the Stetson Westin All-Tournament Team. They were joined by Bethune Cookman's Rhea Simon and Phylecia Armstrong.

The Friars return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 11 when they play their first home game against Brown at 7:00 p.m.
