PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The top-ranked Providence College women's cross country team will travel to Terre Haute, Ind. to compete at the Division I National Championships on Saturday, Nov. 23. The women's 6k race will start at 1:15 p.m. and take place at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center.

Seniors Emily Sisson (Chesterfield, Mo.), Laura Nagel (Napier, New Zealand), Erin Murphy (Easton, Mass.) and Grace Thek (Melbourne, Australia) will be joined by sophomores Sarah Mary Collins (Basel, Switzerland) and Molly Keating (Rehoboth, Mass.) and freshmen Catarina Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) and Bryanna Allison (Lowell, Mass.) as the eight competitors that Head Coach Ray Treacywill select the seven runners to race from.

The Friars will look to build off a successful season as the team most recently earned team victories at the BIG EAST Championships (Nov. 2) and the Northeast Regional Championships (Nov. 15). It marks the most team victories (six) since 2004, when that team earned six team wins before placing third at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.

The Friars earned the program's sixth conference title and first since 2006 with 28 points and four top-seven finishers. Sisson claimed the program's first BIG EAST Individual Title since 2005 (Fiona Crombie`05). Two weeks later, the women went on to claim the program's eighth region title with five runners claiming All-Northeast Region honors, the most since the 2010 season.

Last season, Providence was runner-up at the NCAA Cross Country Championships with Sisson, Nagel and Collins claiming All-America Honors for their top-40 finishes. It was the best finish since claiming the title in 1995.

This season, the Friars are led by Sisson, Collins and Nagel. Sisson has been the Friars top-finisher in five of the six races she has competed in, including a second-place finish at the Northeast Regional Championships. Collins and Nagel join Sisson as the top-three finishers for Providence in each race the trio has competed in. Collins has finished within the top-five in each meet she has raced, while Nagel has posted within the top-nine.

The women were led by Head Coach Ray Treacy, who earned BIG EAST and Northeast Women's Coach of the Year.

Providence will enter Saturday as one of 31 teams in the hunt for the title. Eighteen teams earned automatic bids by finishing top-two in their respective regions, while the additional 13 received at large bids.
