PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College volleyball team lost to New Hampshire, 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-17), on Saturday, Nov. 2 in Alumni Hall. UNH ranks first in the America East standings with an 8-2 conference record and has an overall record of 14-12. Providence moves to 12-16 on the season and 4-6 in the America East.The Wildcats captured the first set 25-19. Freshman Kayla Fitzgerald (Redlands, Calif.) had a team leading five kills in the set for the Friars.
UNH edged PC in a close second set, 25-22, to take a 2-0 match lead. Providence tallied a total of four blocks in the set. Fitzgerald and junior Colleen McCollom (Indian Head Park, Ill.) tallied four kills each.
New Hampshire closed out the match with a 25-17 set win. Junior Mackenzie Ziegler (Portage, Wis.) registered six kills in the set.
Overall the Friars were led by Ziegler who had a double-double (13 digs, 10 kills). Fitzgerald also recorded 10 kills in the match. Sophomore Jordan Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) tallied 24 assists.
UNH was led by Morgan Thatcher who had 18 kills. Tori Forrest also registered double-digit kills with 12. Taylor Dunklau recorded 39 digs and Forrest had a game-best 18 digs.
The Friars hit the road for the last time in the 2013 regular season, facing Albany on Friday, Nov. 8 and Binghamton on Saturday, Nov. 9. The matches are set to start at 7:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., respectively.
