Cross Country Continues High Marks In Polls

New Orleans, La. - The Providence College men's and women's cross country teams continued their presence in the national rankings that were released today (Oct. 8). The men continued to climb the poll with a 17th place ranking, while the women have held the No. 1 spot for the fifth consecutive week.

The regional ranking proved to remain the same for the third straight week, with the men holding the No. 3 spot and the women remaining in the No. 1 spot.

Last time out (Sept. 27), the Friars competed at the Boston College Invitational at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass., where the women claimed a first place finish over reigning National Champions and then third-ranked Oregon. The men turned in a third place finish among some of the top schools in the county, coming in ahead of then eighth-ranked Wisconsin.

Both the men and the women took this past weekend off to prepare for the New England Championships to take place at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. on Saturday, Oct. 12. with an 11:00 a.m. start.
