Men's Cross Country Finish 11th at New England Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - The Providence College men's cross country team competed at the New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. on Saturday, October 12. The men finished 11th out of 20 teams.

Freshman Hugh Armstrong (Balina, County Mayo Ireland) was the first to cross the finish for the Friars. Armstrong finished 61st in a time of 25:43. The next Friar to finish was freshman Jonathan Estrada(Los Angeles, Calif.). Estrada finished the 8k course in a time of 25:56, finishing 91st.

Sophomores Stephen Robertson (Wakefield, Mass.) and Brendan Sullivan (Foxboro, Mass.) and freshman Jake Feinsteinrounded out the top-5 scores for the Friars. Robertson placed 105th in a time of 26:07, followed by Sullivan 26:11 in 112th and Feinstein 26:18 in 120th.

Sophomore Joseph Vercollone(Pembroke, Mass.) also competed for the Friars finishing 128th in a time of 26:22.

The individual winner of the men's varsity race went to Boston Universities Rich Peters in a time of 24:05. Central Connecticut State took out the team title finishing with a total 54 points.

The Friars are back in action next weekend (Oct., 19) at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational in Madison, Wis.
