PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The men's basketball team was defeated by Pittsburgh, 68-64, on Tuesday, January 22, at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

Pittsburgh was able to keep junior Bryce Cotton (Tucson, Ariz.), the BIG EAST's leading scorer, off the scoreboard until there were seven minutes left in the first half. However, during the last seven minutes of the half, Cotton was the only Friar to score and ended the half with 13 points.

Providence never trailed by more than 12 points the entire game, but it was never able to close the gap completely.

Cotton led the Friars with 24 points. Junior Kadeem Batts (Powder Springs, Ga.) recorded 17 points and nine rebounds, while senior Vincent Council (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished with 11 points.

This is the last time the two teams will meet as a part of the BIG EAST conference in regular season play as the Panthers will move ACC next season. Pitt improved to 31-17 in the series all time.

Providence returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 26 against Marquette at 2:00 p.m. ET. The game will be televised locally on Cox Sports/MSG. -Go Friars-
