PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College freshman women's soccer player, Catherine Zimmerman (Madison, N.J.) was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week for her performance in the Friars' wins over Lehigh and Central Connecticut. With these victories, the Friars improve their record to 3-2-1. Zimmerman paved the way for the Friars tallying three goals for a total of six points on the weekend.

Zimmerman tallied two out of four goals for the Friars in their 4-0 victory over Lehigh. In the fifth minute of the game Zimmerman recorded her first points as a Friar after her strike found the back of the net. She wasted no time finding herself another scoring opportunity. In the 65th minute of play Zimmerman headed in a corner serviced by fifth-year senior Laura DiClemente (Blue Bell , P.a.).

DiClemente and Zimmerman linked up for a second time in the Friar's 2-1 victory over Central Connecticut. DiClemente's strike from the corner was finished by Zimmerman to notch the first goal in the team's 2-1 win.

Zimmerman has started all six games for the Friars and has placed seven of her 17 shot attempts on goal. She owns a shots-on-goal percentage of .412.

The Friars are back in action Thursday, September 6 at 4:00 p.m. for a cross town rivalry with Brown. The game will be played on Glay Field.
