Dylan Wykes to Represent Canada in 2012 Summer Olympic Games

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands - Former Providence College cross country and track standout Dylan Wykes '07 finished seventh at the Rotterdam Marathon on Sunday, April 15. Wykes finished with a time of 2:10:47.

Wykes will represent Canada in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, United Kingdom. His time was 42 seconds under the national qualifying standard, and also was the second fastest marathon run by a Canadian. Jerome Drayton holds the Canadian marathon record by completing the 1975 Fukuoka Marathon in Fukuoka, Japan with a time of 2:10:09.

Kim Smith '05 will join Wykes as another former Friar running in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. The Olympic men's marathon is scheduled for August 12, while the Olympic women's marathon is scheduled for August 5.
