PROVIDENCE, R.I. - It was announced today that Providence College junior forward Kadeem Batts (Powder Springs, Ga.) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll. Batts averaged 19.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks as the Friars posted a 2-0 mark last week. He also shot 57.7 percent from the floor (15-26).

Batts was most impressive in the Friars' 73-63 win over SEC foe Mississippi State on Dec. 1. Batts registered a career-high 32 points. He also shot 66.7 percent from the field (12-18) and 80 percent from the free throw line (8-10). Batts performance was crucial as leading scorer Bryce Cotton (Tucson, Ariz.) went down with an injury, leaving the Friars with only five scholarship players for the final 25 minutes of the game. Batts accounted for 43 percent of the team's offense in the win. In PC's other game last week, Batts scored seven points and grabbed six rebounds in the team's win over Holy Cross. Batts is second on the team in scoring (17.0 ppg) and first in rebounding (8.1 rpg).

The Friars return to action on Thursday, December 6 versus the University of Rhode Island at 7:00 p.m. at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
