PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College field hockey team fell to Dartmouth, 3-1, on Wednesday, October 3 at Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I. Providence falls to 5-5 on the season, while the Big Green improves to 6-4.
Providence came out flat in the first half and found itself trailing 3-0 at halftime. Dartmouth got on the board for its first goal at the 11:08 mark as Sam Anderson deflected in a goal off a cross from Janine Leger. At 16:50, Ali Savage gave the Big Green a 2-0 advantage as she cashed in off a deflection. Maggie Scanlon was credited with the assist as she crossed the ball to Savage from the right side of the cage. Less than two minutes later (18:26), Anderson struck again as she made a nice touch on the ball in the circle to change the direction of the ball and get it past the Providence goalkeeper. Lisa Masini was credited with the assist as she sent a long pass into the circle from the right side.
In the second half, Providence got on the board just 2:31 into the action. Junior Caitlin Malone (Ossining, N.Y.) found the back of the cage after she dribbled into the top of the circle and slipped a shot past the Dartmouth goalie.
Providence returns to action on Sunday, October 7 against No. 1 ranked Syracuse in a BIG EAST Conference match. Game time is set for Noon at Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I.
