Providence, R.I. - On Sunday, October 14, the Providence College women's soccer team traveled to BIG EAST rival Pittsburgh for an afternoon cap at Ambrose Urbanic Field. The Friars fell to the Panthers, 2-0. Providence currently holds a BIG EAST record of 3-6-0 (8-8-1 overall) and the Panthers finished the regular season, 2-6-2 in the BIG EAST (7-10-2 overall).
Pittsburgh struck in the 16th minute when Alyssa Meire successfuly burried a penalty kick. Meire's goal would serve as the only points of the first half, and the Panthers took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
In the 54th minute the Panthers increased their lead to 2-0 with a goal from Alex Charlebois. Charlebois headed in a corner taken by teammate Roosa Arvas.
Piittsburgh held the advantage in shots, 15-10, and the advantage in corners, 6-3. Sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Goudreault (Sherborn, Mass.) finished the game with four saves.
The Friars conclude regular season play on Saturday, Oct. 20 when they travel to Storrs, Conn. for a night cap with the Connecticut Huskies. The Game is slated for 7:00 p.m. and will be played at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.
