KINGSTON, R.I. - The Providence College women's volleyball team fell to Rhode Island in straight sets (11-25, 22-25, 22-25) on September 28 in Kingston, R.I.

As a team, Providence registered just 25 kills in three sets, as freshman Kelly Ashmore (St. Louis, Mo.) led the Friar attack with 10. Senior Carly Morrison (Larkspur, Calif.) recorded 20 of the Friars' 22 assists on the night, while junior Cassie Muzzonigro (Gibsonia, Pa.) tallied a team-best 10 digs.

Rhode Island was led offensively by three players who recorded double-digit kills on the evening, led by Kayla Wilson (20 kills). Britta Baarstad and Jill Anderson added 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Candice Kolkka registered 44 assists and Lindsay Potts came up with a team-best 12 digs.

The Rams jumped out to an early lead in the first set and never looked back. Providence made a run at URI in the second and third sets, grabbing the lead on three occasions, but could not fend off the Rams.

Providence returns to action on Friday, September 30 as it opens America East against New Hampshire at 7:00 p.m. The game will be played at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. Live streaming video of the match will be available on Friars.com, in addition to live stats.
