Women's Tennis Falls To SHU & UConn

On Tuesday, March 29, the Providence College women's tennis team (2-11, 0-5 BIG EAST) dropped a head-to-head team matchup against Sacred Heart, 5-2. On Wednesday, March 30, the Friars were on the wrong end of a 5-2 decision against Connecticut. Both meetings were contested at the Providence College Tennis Courts.
On Tuesday afternoon, sophomore Marisela Aviles-Duron (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) defeated Sacred Heart's Kate Donnelly in the No. 1 singles match, 6-3, 6-4. Freshman Maria Clara Bernardez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) scored the second point for the Friars when she won at the No. 2 spot, 6-1, 6-4.
On Wednesday afternoon, Aviles-Duron and Bernardez once again led the Friars with individual straight-set victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively.
The Friars are back in action on Saturday, April 2 when they travel to Loudonville, N.Y. to take on Siena. The meeting is set for a 10:00 a.m.
