PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's cross country team has been recognized for excellence on the course and in the classroom by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association. The Friars have been awarded 2010 All-Academic Team status for Division I.

In addition, junior Charlotte Ffrench O'Carroll (Dublin, Ireland) and sophomore Sam Roecker (Charlton, N.Y.) have earned individual All-Academic status.

To achieve the team honor, programs must sport a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or better. Individual accolades go to runners who have a GPA of 3.25 or higher and have finished in the top-10% of the regional field.

Ffrench O'Carroll was 21st in the regional field of 247 harriers. Roecker was 24th. The efforts helped the Friars earn third place overall. One week later, the black-and-white placed ninth at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Indiana, marking the 17th time in program history they have finished among the top-10 in the nation.
