BOSTON, Mass. - The Providence College men's soccer team was defeated at Boston University, 1-0, Tuesday night in a non-conference match played at Nickerson Field in Boston, Mass. The Terriers (5-5) scored with 2:44 remaining in the second half to take the win.
The Friars (6-3-1) nearly took the lead in the 68th minute when freshman Marcos Ugarte (Providence, R.I.) drilled a shot off the post. However in the 88th, BU's Stephen Knox was able to get on the end of a cross and score his third goal of the season. Providence senior goalkeeper Jhojan Obando (Kissimmee, Fla.) made four saves, while BU's Nick Thomson had one stop in the shutout.
The Friars will return to BIG EAST Conference action when they face Marquette on Saturday, October 8 at 1:00 p.m. at PC's Glay Field.
