PROVIDENCE, R.I. - PROVIDENCE COLLEGE (0-6, 0-0 BIG EAST): The Providence College field hockey team returns to action on Wednesday, September 15 when it travels to face Northeastern University at 2:00 p.m. The game will be held in Boston, Mass. at Sweeney Field on the campus of Wentworth Institute. On Saturday, September 11, the Friars fell to Central Michigan, 3-2, in overtime.
Senior Ashlyn Hudson (Stoughton, Mass.) leads the Friars in scoring with four points on two goals. Junior goalkeeper Shannon DiStefano (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for her efforts last week. She recorded 11 saves in a 1-0 loss against No. 6 Michigan State on Friday, September 10, to go along with four saves against Central Michigan.
Last season, the Friars were defeated by the Huskies, 3-2, in Providence, R.I. Under Head Coach Diane Madl, Providence is 2-3 against Northeastern. The Friars will return home on Sunday, September 19 to face Columbia at 1:00 p.m.
BOSTON UNIVERSITY (3-3, 0-0 CAA): Northeastern enters Wednesday's match on a three game win streak. On Sunday, September 12, the Huskies defeated No. 15 Boston University, 1-0. Junior Kaela Barker leads Northeastern in scoring with nine points on three goals and three assists. Junior Carolyn Malloy has registered eight points on two goals and four assists on the season. Sophomore goalkeeper Lizzie Priest has posted a .780 save percentage and a 2.79 goals against average in 420 minutes of action.
