Former Hockey Star Fernando Pisani Signs With Chicago Blackhawks

Former Providence College men's hockey star Fernando Pisani `00 signed a contract with the defending NHL Stanley Cup champions Chicago Blackhawks.

Pisani finished the 2009-10 season with four goals and four assists in 40 regular-season games with the Edmonton Oilers. In 2008, he was a finalist for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, awarded annually to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey. Pisani has played in over 400 NHL games and has recorded 153 points (80 goals, 73 assists). During the 2006 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Pisani registered a league-leading 14 goals, including five game winners as he led his team to within one victory of the Stanley Cup title.

In four seasons at Providence College, Pisani, who was selected by the Oilers in the eighth round (195th overall) of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, recorded 153 points (56 goals, 97 assists). He ranks 13th all-time in points (153), eighth all-time in assists (97) and sixth all-time in games played (147) at PC. After graduating, Pisani, an Edmonton, Alberta native, played three seasons with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League before making his NHL debut with the Oilers during the 2002-03 season.
