For the men, junior Collin Casciano (Hewitt, N.J.) had an impressive performance in the 100y butterfly event, placing tied for 9th (54.66) out of the field of 28. Freshman Andy St. Pierre (Fairhaven, Mass.) also had a good swim for the Friars in the 200y IM. St. Pierre earned an eighth-place finish (2:05.53) out of the field of 24.
Also on Saturday, the diving teams competed in a diving contest held at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, Conn. The Friars excelled in the 1m diving event. Sophomore Ben Kardian (Valhalla, N.Y.) earned yet another victory as he put up a score of 211.30--20 points more than the second-place diver. On the women's side, it was more of the same for sophomore divers Allie Black (Mystic, Conn.) and Amie Fracker (Trumbull, Conn.). The tandem placed first (216.30) and second (212.40), respectively.
Four schools competed in the diving invitational: Providence, Fairfield, Stony Brook and the host school, Central Connecticut State.
