CHICAGO, Ill. - The Providence College men's soccer team and DePaul University played to a 1-1 double overtime tie Saturday afternoon in a BIG EAST Conference match at Wish Field in Chicago, Ill.
Providence (5-5-2, 0-4-1 BIG EAST) took the lead in the 33rd minute when freshman Brian Grisell (Brookfield, Conn.) scored his first collegiate goal. Grisell's shot from 25 yards out found the back of the net as the Friars held the edge at the halftime whistle. Sophomore Keith Jecewiz (Smithtown, N.Y.) assisted on the goal. However, DePaul (3-7-4, 0-3-2 BIG EAST) scored the in 47th minute to even the score. Austin Toth took advantage of a rebound to record his first goal of the season.
Junior goalkeeper Jhojan Obando (Kissimmee, Fla.) made six saves for the Friars, while John Michael Kulnig stopped seven shots.
The Friars are back in action on Wednesday, October 20 at 8:00 p.m. when they play a BIG EAST at Marquette.
