Fletcher hit at an impressive .462 clip while racking up the 28 kills, while also adding seven blocks. Classmate Shelagh Dolan (Westford, Mass.) added 11 kills, while hitting .258. Another junior, setter Carly Morrison (Larkspur, Calif.) had a solid day, picking up 46 assists.

Freshman Anne Powers (La Selva Beach, Calif.) continued her strong play of late, recording 11 digs to go along with four kills and three blocks.

Central Connecticut State was led by Tori Vaughan, who notched 12 kills. Three other Blue Devils finished with double-digit kills, as Blaike King picked up 11 while Jamie Rademacher and Sara DeLacey each added 10. Central Connecticut State's setter, Amanda Bayer, collected 44 assists.

The Blue Devil back row was pivotal in the match, with four players collecting double-digit digs. Kaitlin Petrella led the way with 26, while Bayer added 13, Danielle Gasser picked up 11 and King added 10.

After Central Connecticut State was able to pull away and take a first set that featured eight ties and four lead changes by a 25-22 score, they cruised in the second set, never trailing, and jumping out to a 2-0 lead with a 25-20 win.

The Friars rebounded to take the third set, led by a 10 kill performance from Fletcher. The junior hit at a stunning .529 clip for the frame. Powers added four kills to bolster the attack and Morrison racked up 16 assists as Providence took the set, 25-20.

Central Connecticut State picked things up in the fourth, as King registered four kills and Rademacher and Vaughan each added three. That, coupled with seven Friar errors, allowed the Blue Devils to take the set, 25-18, and the match 3-1.

The Friars return to America East play this Sunday, October 17, when they host UMBC at Mullaney Gymnasium. The match with the Retrievers is set for 1:30 p.m.
