Men's Soccer To Host Yale On Tuesday

The Providence College men's soccer team will look to return to its winning ways when it hosts Yale on Tuesday, October 13 at 3:00 p.m. at Glay Field.

Providence (5-5-1, 2-4-1 BIG EAST) is looking to bounce back after a 1-0 double overtime loss against Notre Dame on Saturday, October 10 in Providence. The Fighting Irish scored with 51 seconds left in double overtime to earn the win. Goalkeeper Timothy Murray (Haverhill, Mass.) recorded a season-high nine saves to lead the Friars. The setback against Notre Dame marked the first home loss for the Friars, who are now 3-1-1 at Glay Field this season. In addition, the goal was the first that PC has allowed at home. Senior Timothy Ritter (Weston, Mass.), who has three goals, leads the team in scoring, while sophomore Daniel Fabian (Southbury, Conn.) is second with two goals. Murray has started all 11 matches for the Friars and has recorded six shutouts.

Yale (3-5-2, 0-2-0 Ivy League) is coming off a 2-1 overtime loss against No. 24 Dartmouth on October 10. The Bulldogs led, 1-0, at halftime on a goal by Scott Armbrust, but the BIG Green scored in the second half to send the game into overtime. Dartmouth then scored with 26 seconds left in the first overtime to record the victory. Prior to the loss, Yale scored twice in the second half and rallied to post a 2-1 win at Boston College on October 6. Armbrust leads the team in scoring with five goals, while Brad Rose is second with two goals and four assists. In goal, Travis Chullick has started nine matches for the Bulldogs and has one shutout.

The Friars are 5-7-1 all-time against the Bulldogs. The two teams have not played each other since the 2005 season when the game ended in a 1-1 double overtime tie in New Haven, Conn. Ritter scored with 2:36 left in the second half to tie the game and send it to overtime. Prior to the 2005 meeting, Yale recorded a 3-1 victory over PC in New Haven during the 1997 season. The Friars' last win over the Bulldogs was a 2-1 overtime triumph in 1996 at Yale.
