The Providence College volleyball team was defeated by Brown, 3-0, on Tuesday, September 16. The Bears won the match with game scores of 25-10, 25-18 and 25-18. Providence drops to 6-6 on the season, while Brown moves to 4-1.
Junior Abby Majewski (Sunderland, Mass.) played a strong all-around game for the Friars. The 5-9 outside hitter registered eight digs, five kills and a service ace and now ranks fifth on the team in both digs (40) and kills (53). Senior Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded seven kills to lead the Friar offense. Setting up the attack was sophomore Emily Morris (Hermosa Beach, Calif.), posting 19 assists and adding four digs.
Providence next hosts the Fifth Annual Friar Classic on Friday, September 19 and Saturday, September 20. The Friars face Sacred Heart on Friday at 8:00 p.m. and play Coppin State (11:00 a.m.) and Texas-El Paso (5:00 p.m.) on Saturday. All six matches of the round-robin tournament will be played at Mullaney Gymnasium in Alumni Hall on the Providence College campus.
