Providence, R.I. - The Providence College volleyball team lost to the University of Rhode Island, 3-0, on Wednesday, November 12 in Mullaney Gymnasium. The Rams won the match with game scores of 25-16, 25-22 and 27-25. With the victory, URI moves to 14-13 while PC drops to 15-16. Fans can watch the match in its entirety on Thursday, November 13 at 7:00 p.m. on Cox Sports.
Senior Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) played a strong all-around match for the Friars, recording eight kills and 11 digs. In tonight's third game, the 5-10 middle blocker tied Sherryl Jones for fourth place on Providence's all-time games played list with 441. Senior Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) moved into fifth place with her total of 438. The Friar defense was led by senior Kelly Krahenbuhl (Larkspur, Colo.). The 5-7 defensive specialist recorded 23 digs and now has 1,319 for her career.
Providence concludes its season at the National Invitational Tournament in Orem, Utah on November 21 and 22. The team's opponents and match times will be announced in the coming week.
