The Providence College volleyball team won its second-straight match of the Cougar Invitational on Saturday, October 4, defeating Chicago State, 3-1. The Friars won the match with game scores of 25-27, 25-11, 25-15 and 25-11. Providence improves to 10-10 with the win, while the Cougars drop to 0-18. PC finishes the tournament with a 2-1 record after the team's day two sweep.
Senior Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Friar offense once again, recording 20 kills, nine digs and three blocks. The 5-10 middle blocker also registered a season-high .514 hitting percentage. Senior Elizabeth Flynn dominated the front line as well, posting 19 kills and hitting at a .500 clip. For the match, the Friars posted an impressive .376 team hitting percentage. Senior Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) played a strong all-around match for Providence with 42 assists, nine digs and four kills.
PC is back in action on Tuesday, October 7, with a match against Sacred Heart at 7:00 p.m. in Fairfield, Conn.
