Notre Dame Head Coach Mike Brey Quotes
On the changes between the first half to second half...
"They are a very talented team, especially on the offensive end. We had a hard time defending them in the first half. In the second half, our defense got us the win. We held them scoreless for five or six minutes there which was a key for us, and we got into a nice rhythm against their zone."
On extending the home winning streak to 16 games...
"This group is unbelievably resilient. We're a pretty confident basketball team overall. We're a very confident basketball team here."
On Zach Hillesland's play...
"Against both South Florida and DePaul, he was not himself. I thought he practiced really well [the past week]. He's really important to us."
On Tory Jackson's play...
"[Sharaud] Curry has scorched us before, but we've never had a defensive guard like Tory Jackson. I think he exhausted Curry. He was very tired at the end. He [Jackson] is our identity out there. A couple of the loose balls [he recovered] and a couple of the strips he had were big plays."
On Russell Carter's play...
"I thought he was great. He had a good all around game: defending, rebounding, passing. The game came easy to him because he let it come to him. Our seniors were huge tonight, both of them."

Notre Dame Player Quotes
Senior G Colin Falls
On what the Irish did to improve in the second half...
"We really dialed in, we focused, we locked in and defended them, took charges, got loose balls, and rebounded. That was the difference in the game."
On playing against the Friars' zone...
"They were so wide. I would throw the ball in the middle and they wouldn't leave the three-point line. It was almost like throwing it to Zach at the free-throw line and telling him to go one on one against their five. There are not many fives in the country that can do that. It's kind of like 'pick your poison' [when trying to guard us]; we've got a lot of things in the middle of that zone."
On playing again after sitting for a week...
"We've got great character on this team, guys that are going to fight back and we're not going to lay down like maybe we have in the past down the stretch."
Sophomore F Zach Hillesland
On getting back into an aggressive role for the team...
"After the South Florida game and the DePaul game [Coach Brey] just wanted me to get back [to being aggressive]. With our lineup changes and some of the other factors, it kind of got away from me a little bit. All week in practice, he just stayed on me and kept saying, "Attack, attack, Zach, we need you to attack," so that's what I tried to do the whole game."
On forcing the Friars to turn the ball over in the second half...
"Tory did a great job getting down and ratting around with those guys. Those are two very good post players. Hill, the top scorer in the Big East, he's obviously a very talented player, and he was getting stuff inside and so was Kale in the first half. At half time we talked about picking up the defensive intensity, and that's what won the game for us."

Providence Head Coach Tim Welsh Quotes
On the defense of Providence...
"They (Notre Dame) were more aggressive, and we could not slow them down. They got to the rim."
"We did a good job on Falls. They went inside against us a little bit. We did not get to the glass like we should have."
On the play of Notre Dame's Russell Carter...
"Carter made a couple tough shots. In transition, those are tough to play: a guy catches it on the run and takes an NBA three. That is why he is such a good player when he gets in rhythm like that."
On the rebounding of Providence...
"Our rebound numbers over the last couple games have been about even. We are one of the leaders in the league. We have to rebound the ball better. We stopped moving a little bit in the second half."

Providence Player Quotes
Senior F/C Herbert Hill
On tonight's game...
"We missed some shots that we normally make. They made shots they had to and got rebounds when they needed to and we didn't."
On the difference between halves...
"We did a good job in the first half and in the second half they adjusted and started packing it in more. I couldn't hit the shots I normally make. They hit some threes, and we lost some of their shooters in transition."
On the importance of tonight's game...
"We needed this one, but we've got to go back and practice some more and work to get ready for St. John's on Saturday. We still have some more chances left. St. John's is the biggest game in our eyes - we've just got to win that one."
