SOUTH BEND, IND. - The 27th-ranked Providence College men's cross country team finished second in the team standings at the Notre Dame Invitational on September 29 in South Bend, Ind. The Friars accumlated 109 points in the race, which comprised a total of 20 teams. NC State won the team title with 86 points. Chris Solinsky (Wisconsin) won the men's individual title with a time of 23:24.
Senior Martin Fagan (Mullingar, Ireland) led the Friar effort with a seventh-place finish in a time of 23:56. It was Fagan's first appearance with the Friars in 2006, after sitting out of PC's first two meets this season.
Junior Ahmed Haji (West Hartford, Conn.) finished 12th overall in a time of 24:08. Also scoring for Providence was junior Max Smith (Dunedin, New Zealand) who finished 22nd (24:20), sophomore Richard Yeates (Dublin, Ireland) who finished 31st (24:33) and senior Nicholas Weidman (Sudbury, Mass.) who placed 37th (24:40).
The Friars return to action on Saturday, October 7 at the New England Championships. The meet will take place at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
