PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College Friars suffered a 51-41 loss to the Brown Bears on Saturday, November 18 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. Sophomore Sharaud Curry led the Friars with 14 points, while sophomore Geoff McDermott had a game-high 10 rebounds.
The first half was closely played as the Friars were able to build their largest lead of the half over the final 1:22 when they closed on a 6-0 run to enter halftime with a 27-19 lead. Senior Herbert Hill and Sharaud Curry each scored eight points to pace the Friar offense. Nathan Eads had eight points for Brown.
In the second half, the Friar offense stalled as the team scored just 14 points and shot 18 percent from the field. Brown picked up its play over the final 20 minutes, scoring 32 points and shooting 50 percent.
Scott Friske hit a three pointer with 6:21 remaining in the game to tie the score at 37-37. After a defensive stop Keenan Jeppesen made a layup and the Bears took the lead (39-37) and never trailed again in the contest.
Eads had a game-high 16 points for the Bears.
Providence returns to action on Wednesday, November 22 versus Boston College at the Dunkin' Donuts Center at 7:30 p.m.
