PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College volleyball team was defeated by Rhode Island, 3-0 on Wednesday, October 4, 2006. With the loss, the Friars dropped to 7-13 on the season while the Rams improve to 5-14. Rhode Island swept the match by the scores of 30-16, 30-26, 30-27.
Sophomore Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led Providence with 12 kills and two blocks. Sophomore Aida Cadres (Los Angeles, Calif.) added a solid hitting performance with 10 kills. Sophomore setter Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) had a game-high 36 assists.
Providence will play next Wednesday, October 11 at Quinnipiac in Hamden, Conn. Game-time is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
