Field Hockey Moves Up In National Poll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College field hockey team moved up three spots in the STX/NFHCA Division I National Coaches' Poll to No. 12 on Tuesday, October 3. It marks the fourth-consecutive week in the poll for PC, who held a No. 16 ranking for two weeks before moving to No. 15 last week. The Friars' No. 12 ranking is the highest of the season for the program.

Maryland tops the national poll with 679 points and 33 first-place votes. Wake Forest is No. 2 with 636 points, followed by Old Dominion (622 points), Boston College (529 points) and Duke (522 points). The Friars are one of four teams from the BIG EAST in the national poll. Connecticut is ranked 10th (384 points), followed by Providence (209 points), Louisville (13th, 203 points) and Villanova (16th, 195 points).

Providence (11-1, 2-0 BIG EAST) will host No. 4 Boston College in non-conference action on Wednesday, October 4 at the Friar Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in Providence, R.I. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
