ALBANY, N.Y. - On Saturday, February 12, the Providence College women's tennis team (8-2) defeated St. Bonaventure by a score of 6-1. For the Friars, senior Molly Gilbride (Topsham, Maine) picked up her 15th individual win of the year and earned her tenth doubles victory with classmate Nicole Rodger (Lowell, Mass.)

At first singles, junior Sara Bitetti (Norwell, Mass.), battled back from a first set defeat to win her second consecutive match at the top spot in just as many days (4-6, 6-0, 10-2). Gilbride notched her team-leading 15th individual victory with a 6-4, 6-0 win at the No. 2 position. PC's No. 4, senior Lindsey Christensen (Northboro, Mass.) shut out St. Bonaventure's Sarah Costello in straight sets (6-0, 6-0), while sophomore Andrea Lee (Cumberland, R.I.) and freshman Katherine Lyons (Barrington, R.I.) grabbed default wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, respectively.

In doubles action, Bitetti and Christensen paired up at No. 1 to defeat the Bonnies' top duo of Anna Perevenzetseva and Titina Delgado, 8-4. At No. 2, Gilbride and Rodger outscored Costello and Stephanie Fosnight, 8-1, while freshman Carly Hoffend (Pittsford, N.Y.) and junior Andrea Lee (Cumberland, R.I.) recorded a default victory at No. 3.

With the win, Providence improves to 2-1 on the spring season (8-2 overall), while St. Bonaventure remains winless over six matches. The Friars return to action March 16, when they travel to Storrs, Conn. to face the UConn Huskies at 3:00 p.m.
