Women's Hoops Fall To Seton Hall, 51-39

The Providence College women's basketball team fell to Seton Hall, 51-39, in BIG EAST Conference action on Sunday, February 13 at Walsh Gymnasium in South Orange, N.J. Sophomore Shauna Snyder (Albuquerque, N.M.) led all scorers with 16 points in the Friar effort.

In the first half, Seton Hall opened the game on a 14-2 scoring run through the first 5:04 of play. The Pirates finished out the half with a 20-13 scoring advantage for a 34-15 lead at halftime. PC connected on just six of 24 attempts from the field for 25-percent shooting. The Pirates shot 46.7-percent from the field in the first half, making 14-of-30 shots from the floor.

The Pirates started the second half with a 4-2 scoring advantage that gave them a 28-17 lead with 15:38 on the clock. Providence then scored 11 unanswered points to trail by just 10 (38-28) with 11:55 to play. SHU's Cortne Ellis broke the Friar scoring run with a layup at the 11:25 mark to push the Pirate lead to 12 (40-28). Providence got as close as nine points (46-37) as junior Allie Gard (Colorado Springs, Colo.) converted a fast break layup off of a steal at midcourt. The Friars were held to just one field goal the remainder of the game as SHU closed out the contest with a 5-2 scoring advantage, and earned the 51-39 win.

Providence outscored Seton Hall 24-17 in the second half.

Ashley Bush recorded a double-double for Seton Hall on 13 points and 13 boards. Amber Harris also netted 13 for Seton Hall.

Providence College (1-21, 0-11 BIG EAST) will return to the court against Villanova in BIG EAST action on Wednesday, February 16. The game will be played at PC's Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. and will tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
