Back To Previous Friar Q & A 's
Q: Now that you're nine games into the season, give us your thoughts on how you think things have been going for the team.
A: Things are extremely positive within the team. We are working hard and playing competitively throughout practice, which is showing up in our performances during our games. The team moral is in high spirits and collectively everyone is on the same page to ultimately get better.
Q: The Friars have led at the half in six of the teams' nine games this season. What will you and the team be focusing on in an effort to close your opponents out in the second half?
A: Encouragement. We've encountered some scoring droughts at times, and while in those droughts we must pick each other up. When things aren't going as planned during certain points of the game, our energy on defense will be the key to get our offense back on track.
Q: Great win against in-state rival Rhode Island! What does that win mean to program, given the fact that the team really had to play tough and poised down the stretch to earn the victory?
A: The Rhode Island game was a huge victory for us because it was on the road and we finally got over "the hump." We have been in a lot of close games where the outcome has not been in our favor, however, this game was a confidence builder for our team that we can continue to build on for the remainder of the season.
Q: Your younger players, specifically the four freshmen, have brought a lot of new energy to the program. Ashley and Chelsea have played in every game for the Friars. Shantee returned from an injury two games ago and Catherine suited up for the first time against Rhode Island. In your eyes, what are the most important qualities that these four have brought to the program, which will help its continued growth?
A: They all have brought an "attitude" and desire that was lacking in my past years. Their efforts on the court in practices and the games are essential. All of our freshmen are extremely talented and they all excel in different aspects of the game, helping us to be a more complete team.
Q: You're in your third season at Providence. What has been the most satisfying aspect of your time here?
A: Playing basketball in the BIG EAST Conference, which is the highest level of division one basketball. Especially since we have just recently added teams to the league, making it arguably the best conference in the nation. The league has been dominant in women's basketball over the years and the addition of the five new teams makes it even better.

Q: You have three non-conference games left this season before you get into the heart of BIG EAST Conference play. What do you need to take from these remaining games in order to prepare for the conference slate?
A: We want to WIN! We need these games for our confidence leading us into BIG EAST play. We also need to learn as much as we can from these games... always making steps forward. It also gives us a few more opportunities to play together - get more comfortable and improve our overall chemistry as a team on the court.
Q: Looking back at your BIG EAST opener vs. No. 6/7 Rutgers... You competed with one of the most talented teams in the nation, right down to the wire. What does that game mean to the growth of your program? Do you think it increased the team's level of confidence as you continue through the schedule?
A: Definitely helped our confidence. It also instilled in us faith, which in my eyes is the catalyst within a team. Our program is moving into the right direction, but because we believed in one another we were able to compete with the best.
Q: What are your hobbies or interests outside of playing Division I basketball for Providence College?
A: I enjoy traveling, however I have not been able to do as much since basketball is a priority. I also enjoy watching and playing Texas Hold'em : )
