Two Friars Compete in 2005 Wilson/ITA Eastern Regional Championship

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior Jennifer Daigle (East Greenbush, N.Y.) and senior Sara Bitetti (Norwell, Mass.) traveled to the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. this past weekend to compete in the 2005 Wilson/ITA Eastern Regional Championship.

Daigle (7-3 at No.1) represented Providence in singles action and was defeated in straight sets by Siena's Sarah Mayer (2-6, 4-6). In doubles, the top Friar duo of Daigle and Bitetti (9-5 at No. 1) concluded play with a first-round 3-8 loss to Boston College's Cherkasov and Krasnopolsky.

The women's tennis team has now completed their fall season with a 2-1 team record. The Friars return to action when they open up the spring season on Saturday, January 28 at the Winter Doubles Festival in Albany, N.Y.
