PROVIDENCE, R.I. - On Monday, October 10, Providence College's sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Fedyshyn (Lincroft, N.J.) was named to the weekly BIG EAST women's soccer Honor Roll for her outstanding play throughout the week of October 3-9. In two games, Fedyshyn recorded a win and a tie, giving PC four more points in the conference standings. She is the third Friar to be recognized for defensive play this season as freshman back Kelly Determan (San Diego, Calif.) became PC's first-ever BIG EAST women's soccer Defensive Player of the Week on 8/29 and freshman back Megan Mancarella (Rochester, N.Y.) was named to the weekly Defensive Honor Roll on 9/12.

Fedyshyn, who has played every minute in each of Friars' 13 games this season, made seven saves to record her third shutout of the season at Syracuse on 10/9. For her career, she has now held the Orange scoreless over two matches dating back to October 22, 2004. At St. John's on 10/7, Fedyshyn made six saves - including a diving stop in overtime - to record a .867 save percentage and a .900 goals against average for the week. So far this season, she has played 1210 minutes and recorded 69 saves for a 1.19 goals against average and a .812 saves percentage.

In the 16-team BIG EAST Conference, Fedyshyn currently ranks second among all goalkeepers in saves per game (5.31). In conference games only, she currently ranks third in both total saves (43) and saves per game (6.14), fourth in shutouts (2) and fifth in save percentage (.827).

A four-year varsity athlete at Red Bank Catholic, Fedyshyn posted 44 victories in 46 career high school games. She helped her teams capture the Shore Conference Divisional Championship in 2000-04 as well as the State Championship 2002 and 2003. A 2003 and 2004 All-Courier Team goalkeeper, Fedyshyn is the daughter of JoAnne and William Fedyshyn.

The Providence College Friars (4-7-2 overall, 1-4-2 BIG EAST) return to action on Friday, October 14 when they travel to DePaul for a 4:00 p.m. (EST) game against the Blue Demons.
