Men's Cross Country Ranked 17th In Mondo National Poll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College men's cross country team (196 points) is ranked 17th in the Mondo Division I Men's Cross Country National Poll, which was released Tuesday, September 28.

Wisconsin, which captured the Roy Griak Invitational on September 25, is ranked No. 1, receiving all 14 first-place votes. Stanford, Iona, Arkansas and Colorado round out the top five.

Providence finished fifth at the Roy Griak Invitational on September 25. It marked the Friars' best result at the Roy Griak Invitational since 2001, when they finished third. Senior Patrick Moulton (Pelham, N.H.) led the Friars as he placed 20th in a time of 24:54. Junior Martin Fagan (Mullingar, Ireland) finished 24th-place (24:57), while freshman Ahmed Haji (West Hartford, Conn.) placed 38th (25:18). Senior Dylan Wykes (41st - 25:22) of Kingston, Ontario and Patrick Guidera (61st - 25:39) of Clonmel, Ireland also scored for the Friars.

The Friars will return to competition on Friday, October 8 at the New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. The Friars will aim for their 24th New England title.
